Web CEO
Attention: We’re not related to the Web CEO software and we’re not advertising it. This article is our overview of this software designed for SEO purposes. This article relates to Web CEO 6.0.
A few months ago, I found this software on the web and I decided to download it because it is free. However, a full version needs some payment. But let’s analyse all the free features of this software. I will go through all the features step-by-step.
1) The welcome screen. This product is very easy to use and the welcome screen proves it. Everything’s clear and a user can easily run anything that this software offers.

2) The first tool is ‘Find Keywords’. I used to trust this tool, but it is very unreliable. When I was doing some SEO work for a customer, I focused on the terms given by this tool. No wonder I managed top positions for my customer, but his income didn’t change as we were expecting. I really don’t know which statistics this keywords suggestion tool is using, but you’d do better if you use the keyword suggestion service provided by Overture. It is well known fact that Google doesn’t allow anybody to see the statistics about word searches, but Web CEO says they’re getting their data from Google.
Conclusion: I recommend you to avoid this tool.
3) ‘Optimize pages’. This tool is very effective for on-site optimisation. Anyway, if you’re new to SEO, avoid over-optimisation. This tool gives you written results for any analysed webpage, so it is easy to understand what needs to be improved. These sentences tell you exactly what you should and shouldn’t do. It is also very good to analyse your competitors’ sites. On the other hand, every website is different and there are usually more factors which determine the final rankings. The greatest advantage of this tool is the possibility to check your site’s construction focusing on different HTML tags, keyword presence and other minor on-site SEO factors.
With this tool, you are able to determine the weak spots of your competitors as well as determine where you may beat them. But before you use this tool’s results on a real website, learn something about on-site optimisation, over-optimisation and off-site optimisation methods. Only like this will your actions have the desired effect. If you over-optimise your pages, it could lead to penalties from search engines.
Conclusion: I recommend you to use this tool very wisely. I’m giving 7 points out of 10 to this tool.

4) ‘Edit pages’. Well, for any experienced webmaster, this tool isn’t very usable, because any HTML code should be written before any optimisation and if you’re using PHP, ASP or any other programming language on your site, then it is needed to change meta tags and other elements somewhere else.
Conclusion: If your site is purely static, you can use this tool. My rating: 3/10.
5) ‘Submit URLs’. Here, I would like to say “Don’t use any automated tool to submit your websites into search engines!” You never know if these tools are really good and from my experience, I can say that I don’t trust them. If you’re lazy and you’d rather use some automated submission software fine, but easy won’t mean quick in this case. Your URL will be probably approved only in 0% - 5% of cases and there’s no guarantee your site will be submitted into the right category. There’s another reason why you should avoid using this submission service; many directories don’t allow an user to submit any website without typing some verification code and there’s no software which can properly read these images.
Conclusion: If I was a developer of Web CEO, I’d change this tool to the list of directories and an user would be able to open each directory in a new tab. My rating: 2/10. 2 because of the list of search engines and directories which an user can easily visit and submit a site manually.
6) ‘Analyze link popularity’ tool is probably the most valuable tool of this software. It really gives you a good overview and you can use this tool to analyse links to your competitors. I use this tool everyday and I’m satisfied with its performance. Unlike many other backlink checker tools, this tool checks selected search engines and even if there is some inaccuracy caused by updates, caches and so on, I strongly recommend you to use this tool. There’s no more comments, because it really doesn’t need any and my total rating for this tool is 10/10.
7) ‘Find link partners’. Sounds good, but when you analyse the results of this tool, you will probably find a list of quality sites with no chance to get listed from. Maybe you will find a few sites where they will place a link to your website, but directory submission is faster and a more guaranteed way of gettting new links.
On the other hand, the idea behind this tool is very nice and this tool could be more accurate in the future, since it is a new tool.
My rating is 2/10.
‘Manage PPC campaigns’. I don’t think that PPC campaigns are good when you’re starting a new website and you don’t have any idea if it’s going to be successful. For example, you must offer a lot of features on your site in order to attract repeat visitors. Generally, PPC campaigns are good only if you’re already earning money with your website and you have nothing to lose. If you pay $5000 for a new website and you have to spend next $10000 on a PPC campaign, then you need to calculate the ROI. I strongly recommend you to use any SEO technique rather a PCC campaign, because PPC campaign isn’t an SEO technique at all.
My rating: Again 2/10.
9) ‘Check rankings’. Beside the link popularity tool, I found this one to be the best tool. This tool does what it says; It checks the positions of your website on different search engines. It’s very accurate, even if it sometimes fails. As above, it heavily depends on the updates of search engines.
You can view your site’s history, you can compare its positions for chosen keywords.
My rating of this tool: 10/10.
10) The last 3 tools can be included in one or two sentences. Even if they’re slightly useful, I think that features like FTP upload, Site quality and Uptime are completely dedicated to other software products like Total Commander, Cpanel and so on. I have only used the Site quality tool a few times.
My total ranking for these 3 tools is 3/10.
Web CEO has other features, but they don’t do any SEO analysis, so I think it is up to everyone if they want to use them. Generally, Web CEO is good software and if you have a few hundreds dollars for this stuff, you can purchase the full version. I think that some functions of this software aren’t very usable, but some of them are very good, so a little sponsorship could help this software. Unlike many other products, this product really gives you an opportunity to test most of the features for free. One advantage I haven’t been talking about yet is the automatic update. Once the Web CEO developer team does any update, your software will automatically download it, so it will keep you up to date.
My total rating for this software: 7/10.
